The application window for the 2019-2020 school year opened on November 1, 2018.

 Only complete applications submitted by February 1, 2019 will be considered based on the following student information:

  • application form short answer responses (3) 
  • essay response (1) 
  • grade transcripts from the last two school years 
  • STAAR or standardized test performance from the last two years (if applicable) 
  • teacher recommendation 
  • 1-on-1 interview (will be scheduled after the application is received)   

                                                                             

For current AISD students, follow the instructions below to complete the online application.  By applying online, all student information and records will be automatically transferred over from previous years.

  • Go to Parent Cloud at my.austinisd.org and log in.  If you do not yet have an account, you can create one. 
  • Search for and click on the "Intent to Apply" icon. 
  • Choose your student and select the program(s) he/she will apply for. 
  • Make note of the remaining pieces of the program's application process and documents. 
  • When you click Submit, the following components of the application will automatically be forwarded to the selected schools. 

                       *General student information STAAR scores for 2016-2017 and 2017-2018. 

                        *Grade transcripts for 2017-2018 and up to the most recently completed grading period. 

  • After you click Submit, you will see a link for Teacher Recommendations.  Click on this link to send the recommendation form to your teachers. The remaining documents to be submitted are the application form, short answer questions, and essay response.

IAE students will benefit from the following:

    • Students enrolled in a cohort
    • Also enrolled in Early College High School program with the potential to earn an Associate's Degree (60 college credits for free!)
    • Advanced and rigorous coursework in addition to ECHS
    • Real-world problem-based learning that encourages collaboration and teamwork
    • 3 CTE pathways of study offered in Health Science, Engineering, or Graphic Design
    • Field Trips to STEM-related businesses and organizations
    • Guest speakers and industry professional mentors from STEM-related fields
    • Visits to experience local college partnerships
    • Opportunities to engage in service learning projects

Recruitment & Application Timeline 2019-2020

Wednesday, November 1, 2018 Application Window Opens Application will be available in English and Spanish and can be completed either on paper or online at: my.austinisd.org
Wednesday, November 7, 2018 Parent Information Night All interested 8th grade students and parents are invited to learn more about IAE program and application process. Meeting from 6:00-7:00 pm.
November-December 2018 Principal/Parent Coffee Meetings Eastside principal and staff will visit middle school campuses to meet parents and present information about programs, including IAE.
January-February 2019 Recruitment Lunch Current Eastside teachers and students will visit middle school campuses during lunch to talk with 8th graders who are interested in Eastside.
Thursday, January 10, 2019 Eastside Showcase All 8th grade students from feeder middle schools will visit Eastside to learn more about various programs, including IAE.
Friday, February 1, 2019 Application Deadline Students must complete the application checklist and submit all documentation through email or postal mail.
Monday, February 4-Friday, February 15, 2019 Application Review A committee of Eastside staff will review only complete applications and determine the list of potential applicants.
Monday, February 4-Friday, February 15, 2019 Applicant Interviews Students who are new applicants and not members of the Innovation Academy at Martin will be interviewed by a representative from Eastside.
Thursday, February 7 - Friday, February 8, 2019 Eastside Choice Sheets Eastside staff will visit middle school campuses to meet students, present information about various programs, and complete choice sheets.
Friday, March 15, 2019 Acceptance Notification Acceptance notification letters will be addressed to individual students and delivered to middle school campuses.
Friday, March 29, 2019 Letter of Intent Deadline Students must complete and submit letter of intent to secure his or her spot in IAE for next year.

*Innovation Academy at Eastside reserves the right to adjust the timeline. If the IAE reaches capacity, students may be placed on a waiting list at the discretion of the IAE Coordinator and/or the Principal.
